Ending polio is one of Rotary’s most recognized commitments. A project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979 helped begin the effort. Rotary later became a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988.
Rotary members contribute funding, volunteer time, and advocacy. International cooperation has reduced polio cases by 99.9%, according to Rotary, but reaching eradication requires continued work.
